Veteran's Platform
The family survivor benefit for families of military personnel killed in combat zones shall be increased to a minimum of one hundred thousand ($100,000.00) dollars.
The Department of Veteran Affairs shall develop a national outreach program to eradicate veteran homelessness from combat service related mental/physical injury.
The United States government will provide national healthcare for mentally/physically injured veterans resulting from combat involvement, guaranteeing quality care equal to that provided at Walter Reed Medical Center.
Veterans mentally/physically injured while serving in combat zones shall not be required to pay any co-pays for prescription or medical care related to those injures.
Support Plan
The Democratic Veterans of Northern Kentucky is dedicated to addressing issues that effect veterans and their families. Although its plan has various components, many of the plan's components are stated below:
- Identify current issues that effect veterans and their families and be directly involved with political groups, locally, statewide, and nationally that deal with these issues in the best interest of the veterans and their families;
- Interface with other individuals and groups encouraging them to become involved in addressing these issues and resolve the issues to the benefit of veterans and their families;
- Create intra-group involvement individually and through committee thereby delegating specific issues for more definite identification and recommendations for resolution;
- Create a closer dialogue withe the Northern Kentucky Democratic group, by and through its chairperson, to assure we are current on other political issues and to assure that the chairperson remains current on issues affecting veterans and their families and at the same time, remain open to suggestions and information being provided by all political parties;
- Establish a closer link to various media netwroking to assure the ability to inform the public of these issues and our positions regarding these issues;
- Encourage, identify, and support candidates for political office that share our values and our concern for veterans and their families.
